Breezy Mountain Leather is owned and operated by Valerie Ann Szarek. She began her business in 1972, and has been located in Colorado since 1978. Valerie has achieved Master Leather Worker status after 35 years of dedicated, conscientious and caring study. She has worked on the challenging creations of many individual leather projects.

Many people ask me "what is the ‘best’ leather?" I always answer: "For what?"

Every leather is perfect if used in the right way.

Only animals taken for food are used by us. This trade is the ultimate recycling and a beautiful way to honor these animal’s lives and spirits forever. The creation of these bags is done prayerfully, respectfully and with deep gratitude to all those who’ve given up themselves to us.

Valerie practices Native American traditions of honoring the earth and all her children and works closely with each animal’s spirit to bring forth the most beautiful, long lasting creations of their gifts of self.

All of Breezy Mountain's products are designed by Valerie. Trained in the art of haute couture she makes and designs all of her own patterns, specializing in finding the best leather for each product. Valerie uses clean simple lines that complement the subtle beauty of organic stones and leather, creating a beautiful spirited work of wearable art.
